DMA (Digestion Material for Asbestos) is a material used by Sumitomo Osaka Cement Inc. for “Development of containment method for prevention of asbestos scattering” - a research commissioned by the Ministry of Environment, that confirmed detoxification of chrysotile asbestos.
Sumitomo Osaka Cement Inc. has been selected as a research commission in Promotion on Development of Environmental Technology in 2006 and 2007 (research and development scope “Development of containment method for prevention of asbestos scattering”, and technological area “Technology on prevention of asbestos scattering”) by the Bureau of Environmental Policy in the Ministry of Environment for development of containment method for prevention of asbestos scattering. In this research and development process, test works have been conducted using DMA, and as a result detoxification of chrysotile asbestos has been confirmed.
DMA has seven U.S. patents from the U.S. Patent Office, and three patents in Japan.
The DMA technology was jointly developed by W.R. Grace & Co.-Conn. And the Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Inc. had confirmed the effect under the research project of the Ministry of Environment.
